چکیده

2014 We propose a model for describing electrostatic interactions in the aqueous core of a spherical reversed micelle. Some counterions are located at the surface of the aqueous core, the others are distributed inside the core following a Boltzmann law. The nonlinearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation is solved in spherical geometry; an asymptotic expansion of its solution is found near a logarithmic divergence. We give an evaluation of the enthalpy of association of a counterion to the surface of the aqueous core. Assuming that the area by polar head remains constant, we obtain the electrostatic energy of the micelle and we show that the electrostatic energy by monomer is a function of the aggregation number. EVALUATION OF THE USE OF ANIONIC/ NONIONIC MIXED MICELLES IN REVERSED PHASE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY OF CHLOROPHENOLS

The use of aqueous mixed micellar system consisting of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and polyoxyethylene (23) dodecanol (Brij-35) as the mobile phase in reversed-phase liquid chromatography was studied. A group of chlorophenols was used as the test mixture. Adding organic modifier to the system showed that the use of low concentrations of organic additives improves efficiency in SDS/Brij-35 mixe...

Protein extraction using reversed micelles

Proteins can be extracted from an aqueous phase into reversed micelles. This transfer is governed by electrostatic interactions, for protein and surfactant have to bear opposite charges. The presence of high salt concentrations diminishes the attractive interactions and can lead to expulsion of the solubilized proteins. This is used to recover extracted proteins. Larger proteins require a large...

pH- and temperature-dependent phase behavior of a PEO-PPO-PEO-based pentablock copolymer in aqueous media.

We investigated the structural features of micelles formed by the self-association of the pentablock copolymer poly[ N,N -(diethyl amino)ethyl methacrylate]-block-poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(propylene oxide)-block-poly(ethyleneoxide)-block-poly[ N,N -(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate] (PDEAEM-PEO-PPO-PEO-PDEAEM) in aqueous solutions by using small-angle neutron scattering SANS. The pentabloc...

Spectroscopic properties of horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase in reversed micellar solutions.

Catalytic and spectroscopic properties of alcohol dehydrogenase from horse liver, incorporated in reversed micellar media, have been studied. Two different reversed micellar systems have been used, one containing an anionic [sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate, AOT], the other containing a cationic (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB) surfactant. With 1-hexanol as substrate the turnover nu...

Affinity extraction of BSA with reversed micellar system composed of unbound Cibacron Blue.

Affinity Cibacron Blue 3GA (CB) dye in aqueous phase was directly transferred to the reversed micelles due to electrostatic interaction between anionic CB and cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The bovine serum albumin (BSA) transfer to the reverse micelles increases significantly in a wide range of pH by the addition of a small amount of CB ( approximately 1.0-7.0% of the total su...
